Heat from straw
Generating 'clean' energy - from power of water, and
renewable sources, that is wind, gas and biomass - has been an important
issue all over the world for years.
The production of energy in Polish water power stations constitutes merely 2% of the electric energy. And even if new water power stations are built, which is quite an optimistic variant, this will still be not enough - only 8% of the produced electric energy. There are, however, other alternative methods of producing haet and electric energy; and perhaps soon power stations using biomass will become popular in Poland.
As it is revealed by the surveys, Polish farmers burn about 10 million tonnes of corn and rape straw in the fields every year. Moreover, we should not forget about 1,5 million tonnes of wood waste. These amounts are large, and properly processed the materials could become a cheap source of heat energy, as well as measurable profit for the local community.
The articles of PSPP Co., as well as our mission assume participation in various undertakings that promote and popularize renewable sources of energy - water, wind, gas and biomass. The open program initiated by our company, called 'Using biomass for production of energy', assumes cooperation with provincial offices, commune unions local communities, as well as companies interested in creation of biomass heat plants.
If you are a farmer you could only benefit from the establishment
- in your area - of a heating plant or an electric heating plant, operating
on biomass, since you could actually earn money on selling straw and other
agricultural waste.
Our company's offer is meant to bring closer and to connect
different companies interested in 'biomass energy', which would eventually
lead to construction of biomass power stations (mainly local heating plants).
These plants would be exploited by companies with commune's shares as
well as companies with PSPP Company's shares and other companies concerned.
Such local heating plants could deliver heat to schools,
cooperative banks as well as other buildings administered by the communes.
The undertakings would be based on American and Dutch technologies, and
as well as on knowledge and experience of Polish specialists.
Among others there would be three major benefits of establishing
biomass heating plants. First of all, the costs of transport of heat energy
(which are very high) would be eliminated since the local organic material
(straw) would be used to produce energy. Secondly, there would be less
environmental pollution caused by coal combustion. And finally, that would
also create bigger employment opportunities as well as larger environmental
awareness in the communes participating in the programme.
The main condition for the cooperation between PSPP Co.
and the local governments is the will of communes and local governments
to participate in the programme of constructing local heat plants (operating
on straw or wooden waste).
The teams of specialists have already begun working on
the project. Their job will involve coordinating all the activities, and
eventually constructing, setting up and exploitating of particular heat
plants in Poland.
